The Aims of the Project

Although ES approaches are widely being used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, unfortunately there is no standardization even in definitions, such as ES, neuromuscular ES, transcutaneous ES, somatosensorial ES...etc. The differentiation in definitions and treatment protocols (frequency, intensity, etc…) limit the gain of high quality evidence despite the frequent use of ES. In the literature there is limited evidence in ES. Determining the knowledge of physiotherapists on electrical stimulation, improving the knowledge in electrotherapy, standardizing the electrotherapy education, and optimizing the physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs are the aimed outcomes of this project.
•    The main goal of this project is collecting the existing training contents in electrical stimulation approaches for assessment and treatment and adapting these contents to the specific rehabilitation requirements in accordance with the European standards. Hence, enhancement of required specific vocational skills can be supported through vocational education and training by digital education for excellence.
•    Providing the necessary knowledge and greater awareness of the electrical stimulation approach, understanding the applied protocols in order to achieve functional rehabilitation, enhancing the professional skills of physiotherapists, and improving the quality of services offered to patients are also within the objectives of the project. These aspects  contributed to the acquisition of skills and key knowledge in European professional training in physiotherapy and rehabilitation by supporting the development of professional networks across the Europe.
•    With the internationalization strategy of this project, sharing best practices, promoting the use of new and standardized electrical stimulation protocols and technologies, and supporting the professional development of physiotherapists (as a lecturer, trainers, mentors, or other staff) can be achieved.
•    Sharing and transferring best practices and selected materials in education within the European standards for excellence was the main tool of this project
