In November-December 2023, Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences organized internship courses for physiotherapists. The duration of internships can be 18 hours / 36 hours / 60 hours / 72 hours and is mandatory for physiotherapists seeking licenses (following the Law on the Practice of Personal Health Care of the Republic of Lithuania, Order No. V-2824 of December 4, 2020). Internships are conducted individually, and upon completion, a certificate is issued that is suitable for obtaining physiotherapist licenses.
The goal of this year's internships at Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences is to update and deepen knowledge and improve practical skills in assessing the functional status of patients and applying physiotherapy in clinical and non-clinical environments, following evidence-based kinesiotherapy practice.
During internships, physiotherapists acquire the following competencies: (1) the ability to analyze various physiotherapy methodologies and tools, and the ability to apply them depending on the physical and functional impairments or preventive goals of the individual. (2) Knowledge of innovative assessment systems in physiotherapy. (3) The ability to develop skills in the practice of physiotherapy research, assessment, and application.
One of the topics of this year's internships was Fizicaltherapy. During this lecture series, physiotherapists were introduced to the Clinical Key for Electrical Stimulation in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (CK4Stim) project, some of them participated in the pilot study and provided their responses.
